Tutorial: Pinky-purple Spring Look

Hello ladies :)

I recently purchased the Maybelline Eye Studio Diamond Glow Quad in Purple Drama and I thought I'd use it for a drugstore pictorial for you guys :)

Before starting the tutorial I'd already done my base makeup. I'd used GOSH Velvet Touch Foundation Primer with Revlon Photo Ready Foundation in 02 Vanilla and then set it with MAC Flower Mist Dew Beauty Powder. I'd also filled my brows using MAC Spiked Brow Pencil and C2000 Colour Me Lash Mascara in Clear. Now on to the tutorial ...

1.

After applying your eyeshadow primer, I used Too Faced Shadow Insurance, apply a lavendar coloured creamy base. You'll need this to help the shadows stick and to make them more vibrant. I used NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Lavendar, drawing it along the lashline and then blending it up to the crease with my finger.

2.

Using the sponge tip applicator provided with the palette apply the light pink colour to the inner half of the lid.

3.

Flip the applicator around and apply the lighter of the two purples to the outer half of your lid. Blend the line down the centre by patting over it using the excess product left on the applicator.

4.

Using a crease brush apply the deepest purple shade to your crease. I used a Sonia Kashuk brush but I believe Revlon make similar ones that are available in the UK. Be sure to blend the shadow up onto the brow bone as well as down into the lighter purple to create more depth.

5.

Apply the white shimmery highlight colour underneath your brow blending it down. Use the colour to blend out any harsh edges you may have as well as taking the colour down to your tear duct as a highlight.

6.

Using the tapered end of the sponge tip applicator apply the dark purple shade along the lower lashline, connecting it up to the same colour in the crease. I chose to only take this colour halfway along my lashline, blending the white colour the rest of the way.

So far you should have something like this:

7.

Apply a black liner to your upper lashline, I used L'Oreal Lineur Intense Carbon Gloss in Carbon Black. After you're done with the liner curl your lashes and add mascara, I used L'Oreal Telescopic Explosion in Black.

8.

Pull a silly fish face and contour those cheekbones! I used the Sleek Contour Kit in Light with my MAC 165.

9.

Add a nice flush of pink to those chops! Smile to find your apples and then turn your brush sidewards to your face and sweep the colour away from your nose; this ensures you don't look drunk ;) I used Sleek Blush in Pixie Pink with my EcoTools Blush Brush.

10.

Pop a quick bit of Maybelline Ambre Rose lipstick on and you're done! Sorry about the naff photo, I had the sun in my eyes!

Hope you guys liked this pictorial and found it useful, I hope to be able to do some more for you but obviously only if people like them! :)

~xoxo~

  4. @Lillian Funny Face: Thank you :) I thought the lavendar base really helped to make the colours popped; they look so much more vibrant than my initial swatches! Should be easy peasy to dupe though :)

  5. You're so beautiful! Love this tutorial, I'm a fan of purple colours. I find you resemble Natalia Vodianova, LOL! Have you been told that before? XO

  6. @Marce: The colours are so pretty, I'm really like this palette. I don't think I've ever been likened to Natalia Vodianova before, Leighton Meester is the only one I remember but I tend to disagree!

  11. you know, I've never really tried pink or purple eyeshadows - this is really inspiring me to give them a second chance. And at maybelline prices, what's to lose?

  12. @scarlettholly: Exactly. It's fun to play with new colours and experiment and the drugstore have some great products to do that with at affordable prices :)
