Tutorial: Pinky-coral Spring Look

Hello ladies :)

Previously I had mentioned that I went to MAC for a makeup lesson and I've only just gotten round to taking the photographs for the tutorial. I'm so rubbish! Basically the lesson was for 45 minutes and focused on either eyes, lips or face. I choose eyes and here's what she came up with :)

1.

Starting with a champagne pink base apply to your lid and along your lower lashline. I used MAC Nurture Shadestick.

You probably can't see it but I promise it's there!

2.

Pack on a pinky-coral shadow to your lid with a stiff flat brush. I'm using MAC Paradisco with a MAC 239.

3.

Next turn your brush vertically and sweep the remains of what is on the brush along your crease.

4.

Apply the same colour to the lower lashline, ensuring that it meets the outside edge of the colour that you applied to your lid. You want to balance your looks so apply the same colours to the lower lashline as you do your lid. Unless you're going for a "pop" of colour that is :) I used a MAC 214 to do this as I find it easier to place the colour under my lashes and I get a finer line then when I use the tip of my MAC 239.

5.

Apply a warm reddy brown to your crease using a crease brush. I'm using a MAC 217 and MAC Brown Down.

You want the deepest amount of colour in the hollowest part under your brow bone to give depth to your eye. I also choose to blend the colour up onto my brow bone to make it a little more smokey looking. Ensure you take the colour onto your lower lashline too, I concentrated the colour to the outer third of my lashline and connected it up to my crease.

6.

Next I applied an illuminating moisturiser to my face. I used MAC Strobe Cream with a MAC 188 brush. You don't have to use a brush at all, I just like too. The makeup artist also applied MAC Prep & Prime Face Protect SPF50 to my T-zone, but I don't have that, so I used GOSH Velvet Touch Foundation Primer instead.

7.

Apply your foundation of choice. I'm using MAC Studio Moisture Tint SPF15 in Light with a MAC 187.

8.

Next she applied MAC Golden Bronzer to my face, applying it to my cheeks, along my cheekbones, my temples and across my hairline and then finally down my nose. I don't have that bronzer so I'm using BeneFit Hoola with a MAC 165. She didn't apply a separate blush colour so this serves as both a cheek colour and contour.

9.

Fill your brows. This step isn't necessary if you already have full brows. I used MAC Spiked Brow pencil, I literally have a little nub left!

10.

Apply liner. I'm using MAC Blitz N Glitz Fluidline with a Sonia Kashuk Bent Liner Brush. Blitz N Glitz is black with a gold pearl, it's a lot softer looking than Blacktrack.

11.

Apply mascara. I used Stila Major Lash in Black. When applying mascara I tend to wipe of the brush first and then apply a thin coat to my upper and lower lashes. I leave it to dry and then go back and apply another coat concentrating the majority of the product at the base of the lashes to make them look thicker.

Finally apply a "Your Lips But Better" coloured gloss and you're done! I used MAC Viva Glam V Lipglass.

I hope you found this tutorial helpful. Be sure to leave me your feedback in the comments. :)

  4. Wow, I love it, thank you! I think I'll use different coloured shadow since pink and reddish colours never look great on me, but seeing the placement of everything really helped!
Just found your blog through the 'blog link' thing that other bloggers do, so far I really like it :)
