Haulage!

Hello my lovelies!

Last Friday afternoon Mummy Minx and I had a lovely girly shopping trip :)

I bought some lovely spring clothes, which now seems to be a little premature as it's gotten awfully cold again!! I also picked up some lovely makeup that I wanted to share with you :)

First place we visited was BeneFit :)

This is the Silky Finish Lipstick in Jing-a-ling. I have two other Silky Finish lipsticks, Good-To-Go and Ms Behavin', and I really like the consistency. Jing-a-ling is a creamy neutral pink with golden shimmer. I don't find the lipstick drying but because it has a lot of "slip" I find I have to reapply it every three hours or so.

This is the new product in the boxed face powders line. It is Sugarbomb. I have been waiting for this for the longest time and I even e-mailed BeneFit Customer Services to see when we'd get it and they didn't even know! I have one other boxed product, Hoola, and I really like the silkiness of the powders and the pigmentation. I realise at £23.50 they are expensive but they'll last ages :) Sugarbomb is split into four little colour triangles; rose, shimmering pink, soft plum and peach. The colours can be used individually, admitted with a small brush, or swirled together. On me, they give a beautiful peachy pink glow with subtle golden sheen. As I'm fair I can use this as a blush but on darker skintones it would make a beautiful highlight.

These are Velvet Eyeshadows, I have a mild obsession with these!! From top to bottom we have Buckle Bunny, Fawn Over Me and Rich Beach. All the shades are incredibly soft and buttery with a slight shimmer. Buckle Bunny is a warm pink toned brown, Fawn Over Me is a beigey golden sand and Rich Beach is a warm golden brown.

I received this as a gift with purchase! The Sales Assistant was so sweet, laughing and joking with my mum, that she let me take my pick out of what was left from their Holiday lucky dip. I've no idea what else was in there lol!!

Lastly we went to Shu Uemura. There is a newly opened store joined to a Kiehl's store so we went in for a quick browse.

This is ME Red 160. It is a metallic berry red shade with pink undertones. It's very similar to MAC Cranberry but not the same. The shadow is soft and buttery with a metallic sheen :) Now I was a little put off by this store. We got pounced on by the Sales Assistant before we'd even finished getting through the door. I knew what I wanted to pick up but I also like to have the opportunity to browse first so that put me off slightly. Then when I said that I'd only like the single shadow she was insistant that I have a complimentary hand massage... Any ways, she plastered my hand in their makeup base foam stuff and it totally turned my hand white. I mean I'm pale but this exaggerated it! She said that it's their best seller because it really helps the makeup apply smoothly and really brings out the pigmentation of eyeshadows, at which point she swiped some really ugly brown across my newly white hand and then across my untouched hand. She said that she used the product herself and highly recommended it. Now I'm not being rude but her face was bright orange, her foundation was cakey, her eyeshadows had creased and she had crumbled white eyeliner in her waterline; I was not about to take her advice! When I said that I wasn't keen on the scent of the product and that I have sensitive skin that's aggravated by perfumed products, she got a bit huffy. She then poured a ton of the Cleansing Oil on my hand to demonstrate how it dissolved the makeup, this was on the hand she'd attacked with the base not the other one. That was still sat with the ugly brown shadow on it. She asked if I'd ever used a cleansing oil before and then started to reel off all the benefits before I could even tell her that in fact I use MAC's and I like it. Then she sprayed my hand with their water stuff, I forget the name, and said that I wouldn't need to buy that because I could just use tap water but this stuff had beneficial skin enhancing properties. Hmmmmm. I simply said that I was happy with what I was currently using but when I run out I'd consider theirs but I was a little unsure of the smell. Think that was the point that she knew she wasn't about to sell me anything else so she disappeared off to the till. So there I was with one clean cold hand and one warm hand made grubby by the ugly brown shadow. I'd paid for my eyeshadow and she popped a couple of samples of the cleansing oil but they didn't have any of the ones for dry skin so she gave me oily (?) and when I said about my grubby hand she was all like, here have a complimentary tissue. Geez thanks lady!! I figured I'd rather brave the snooty ladies in Space NK than return to her!

Guess that just goes to show the totally different styles of customer service. Needless to say I won't be running to Shu Uemura in a hurry but I'll definitely be visiting BeneFit again :)

Have you guys ever had bizarre customer service experiences?

~xoxo~

  1. Horrible customer service is half the reason I avoid makeup counters and buy my stuff online :( unfortunately there are those times when I HAVE to visit the counter (to get colour matched for foundation, etc) but I try not to do that too often.

Randomly: did you buy your other Benefit lipsticks because they were the colours used in Twilight? XD

  2. @SilhouetteScreams: Maybe ;) Although Good-To-Go is a lovely neutral every day colour and Ms Behavin' is such a gorgeous purple, that I would have picked them up regardless :D

  4. @desiiGirl87: They aren't similar in person, the lighting wasn't very good when I photographed them. Buckle Bunny is a reddy pink, more similar to the Shu colour but not as dark. Fawn Over Me is a lot light than it photographed and Rich Beach is a touch darker. :)

  5. Agh how horrible! I hate sales people like that! I'm so shy i always have to just go along with them, often i've bought something i don't even want just because im too scared to say no :( The eyeshadows really gorgeous though.

  6. @Lillian Funny Face: I tend to go along with them but the more and more they push, the more I don't listen! Saves money that way ;)
