Do I do anything other than shop ...?!

Hello again my pretties :)

Friday I popped into town to check out the new MAC collections. All Ages, All Races, All Sexes was a bit naff in my opinion. I thought I was going to get the Beauty Powder Blushes but they were naff and nothing else appealled to me. Then I was told that MAC in Lillyland is online only and my store wouldn't be getting it. That sucked because I prefer to swatch makeup before I purchase it, unless it's cheapy stuff and then I don't mind. I really wanted to pick up So Sweet, So Easy and Florida Cremeblend Blushes but So Sweet, So Easy is now sold out online so that sucks even more :(

I then toddled off down to Space NK and swatched a bunch of NARS eyeshadow duos and Laura Mercier colours I'd been hankering after. I didn't want to pay out for them if I already had a bunch of dupes so I wandered back to MAC and found dupes for pretty much all the colours so that saved me a little bit more money!

After that I took myself off to Lush and OMG are the Valentine's stuff nice! I didn't buy anything though lol! Although now I wish I had :s

Any way, enough of what I didn't buy and onto what I did ;)

First I went to Clinique to check out their new Spring collection

This is the Fresh Picked Allover Colour in 01 Mixed Berries. I saw this and knew I had to have it. The deeper rose red colour is the colour I'd hoped All's Good Beauty Powder Blush would be and the lighter candy pink colour is a pinker version of what I had envisioned Personal Style Beauty Powder Blush to be. I really like the product, it's beautifully pigmented and silky smooth, but the mirror outer packaging easily marks with finger prints :(

This is the Vitamin C Lip Smoothie in 06 Pink Me Up. It comes in the same clicky style pen as the Stila Lip Glazes. Maybe it's just me but it has a slight citrus smell to it. It's a lovely candy pink in colour with shimmers and I don't find it sticky or gritty :)

The sales assistant was sweet enough to give me a sample of the High Impact Mascara. It has a fantastic large bristle wand and is supposed to add volume and length to your lashes making them look lusher, plusher and bolder. I've tried High Definition in the past, the one with the brush one side and the comb the other, but I never repurchased it because I didn't find it all that good.

Next I picked up some bits from Too Faced, which is currently on 3 for 2 in Boots along with Cargo, Ruby & Millie and Urban Decay. I haven't tried anything much from Too Faced other than the Shadow Insurance, which is my Holy Grail eyeshadow primer :)

This is Glamazon eyeshadow. It's a pretty silver pink taupe.

This is Socialite eyeshadow. It's a lovely rosy pink toned copper.

Finally this is Totally Toasted eyeshadow duo. It's a pink based beige and a warm brown.

All three shadows are buttery soft, easy to blend and super pigmented. They also have a gorgeous metallic sheen to them without being super sparkly or shimmery. According to the website they're also supposed to be crease resistant but as I pair them with Too Faced Shadow Insurance I never have any problems with creasing ;) I really like the packaging too. The swirly pink border around the window and Too Faced logo on the lid are all raised up and the lids are magnetic so they close super tight.

I was super tempted by the Smokey Eye kit and the Neutral Natural Eye Kit but I wasn't 100% sure.

This is the BeneFit Browzings in Dark. I'm currently using MAC Spiked Eye Brow Pencil and whilst it's nice, it doesn't last very long at all. Admittedly this kit was more expensive than the pencil but it'll last 10 times longer. The kit itself contains a soft pigmented wax, a brow powder, a mini "hard angle" brush, a mini blending brush, mini tweezers and a mirror so it's perfect for travelling. The sales assistant on the counter kindly did my brows for me with this product and it gives such a softer effect compared to the pencil. Once the pencil is all used up I'll be switching to this for sure :)

I've said previously that I'm obsessed with these Velvet Eyeshadows and, of course, I had to get some more! In fact I think I have them all now with these ones =o The colour pictured above is "Gimme Some" Plum. It is a smokey purple colour.

This is I Cannes & I Will. It's a deep burgandy reddy eggplanty purple colour. This one is everso slightly more gritty in consistency but as it's such a nice unique colour, it's forgiven :)

This is Like What You Sea? Contrary to the colour in the pan it's more of a muted silver blue than baby blue it looks like in the picture.

I honestly can't wait to see the new Spring colours in real life, I'm so excited :)

The sales assistant was super sweet and gave me an absolute ton of samples!

First up she gave me a mini High Beam.

Then she gave me a mini lipstick in Lady's Choice

Then she gave me this Thierry Mugler bag which was full to the top with fragrance samples. Here's what was inside...

These are huge 50ml samples of Hugo Boss shower gel

This is my all time favourite perfume EVER. The Monkey Noodle was cute enough to buy me an enormous bottle of this for my birthday so I was super chuffed to see this sample in the bag :)

I've never tried Vera Wang perfumes in the past. The Princess scent is very soft and floral with vanilla notes and the Glam Princess is stronger, still floral but a lot more fruity. For me, these are the perfect light spring fragrances.

I absolutely adore SJP perfumes! My aunt and uncle buy me either Lovely or Noa for my birthday or Christmas each year but this year they bought me Endless. I'm so glad that these were in my little goody bag as I love each one and I know I'll use them up :)

I love Chloe perfume as well! In fact Chloe and Chanel No.5 are my favourite "grown up" scents so I'm chuffed I got this too :)

Then lastly there was a bunch of men's samples; the Monkey Noodle was super excited to get his mitts on these!

All in all a successful shopping expedition even if I do say so myself :) No bizarre sales assistants, just lovely cheerful people. Made my day!

~xoxo~

  2. @Nymphette Beauty: Shop and enable ;) Lol!

@SilhouetteScreams: I rarely get given samples, like hardly ever, so I guess I got a lifetime supply in one day!

@desiiGirl87: I'd been saving for months for IMATS and when my Illamasqua stuffies came in at just more than the retail of two blushes, the money was burning a hole in my pocket. That and my Boots points were screaming at me to be used :p Most definitely purse friendly spending!

  4. @Jemma Page: The only time I tend to ask for samples is if I want to try out a skincare or "face" product before I commit to purchasing it. I didn't ask for any of the samples I received, I was just given them :D Must have looked, or smelt, like I needed them lol!

However, please don't just leave a one word comment that bears no relation to my post just so you can shill your blog/blog sale/giveaway. It's just not cool, ya dig?
